Regardless I hope Ford or the insurance makes it right and covers it 100% minus the deductible.
Ya it was just a guy working at the dealership making this statement ( probably just going along with what the insurance adjuster said ) .. This isn't ford acknowledging anything .. Had the whole truck burnt up and burnt my garage and house down that would have all been covered, but still the wire harness would not have been lol . I know it's stupid but that's the way it works I guess according to my research most all insurence companies are the same way when it comes to a fire claim.

Since they don't want to pay for the harness, I'd ask them what happens if your truck burns again and the harness is the culprit. At that point you installed the harness so you may be SOL on getting anything back.....

While I agree that it might have been a mechanic/ claims adjuster conclusion, surely a written report would have be filed citing the equipment that caused it.

This wasn't a simple popped fuse, your truck suffered considerable damage, including possible hidden damage from heat/ fire/ smoke. I'd be wary of putting the same harness back in myself, like Adam said above.

Regardless of who is at fault, at least you and yours are safe and sound..nothing is worth losing those we love. Stay safe!

Does your truck smell smokey inside? If so I'd want compensation for that as well. I don't know if I've ever seen a fire damaged vehicle not totalled either, but most seem to be burnt a lot worse than yours.

Do they use salt on the roads in Ohio during the winter or sand? If it's salt, I wonder if it played a roll in the harness deterioration?

Just thinking of checking mine given the location in the footwell

yes that's why I pulled all the interior out . That's included in part of the money there giving me. Cost to remove and clean everything . I'm gonna do it my self. Probably gonna strip the seats and put leather seat covers on.

I agree I'm not real confident in putting the same wire harness in. But I'm gonna assume it was a fluke thing. I plan on pulling the dash off so I can go ever everything and to install the new wire harness .
