In all honesty I'm probably about ready to sell my bull bar and get a push bumper (like the ones on ems trucks) or a full guard that I can use. I love the look of it, but there are times when it would be great to pull/push from the front end and you just can't do that with a bull bar.

I want to get a full Grille guard. I live in big deer country (Iowa). And It's not cheap to replace headlights/grille/bumper....

I'm still leaning towards the Ranch Hand myself, have a crome one on my '98 but it came with it. I like the flat black better. Came up with the future inlaws the other day and he didnt' understand it that much till I pointed out that it is a little more than the deductable and that the '98 has his 9 deer so far with very little damage (one wrapped around the side and hurt the fender and door a little). Last one bent the bumper back a little (was easy to pull back into line) because the rusted old brace broke. For me I think they are worth the money in my area too. Lots of deer, I drive home at night. I'd love to ride my bike to work more, but animals scare the hell out of me. Keeps me in the truck more than i'd like.

I almost bought a westin grill guard off a dude in birmingham and he had his mounted (2004 f150) with the tow hooks still on. The only reason I didnt buy it is because apparently the westin part # is different between the 2004-05 and the 06 model.

Now I did take a look at that guard and it looks decent on a DD but looking at the mounts I would say it could maybe take one deer but would need to be replaced after that.

I'm not sure about brush guards but a buddy of mine has a Westin bull bar and I wouldn't tie my dog to it for fear he'd rip it off the truck. They are deff not made for much other then looks... Once again I'm just talking about his westin bull bar

Go to www.bigcountryauto.com and look at the pull pro winch bumper ( it is a brush guard not a replacement bumper). I have it and it retains the tow hooks. It was recommended to me by a buddy that owns a tire/accessory shop, he said that it is what the sheriff's dept uses on their vehicles and that it is the most durable of all the ones they have used. I was a little skeptical ad I had a warn set up on my previous truck and really liked it but I trust him. He was right I like it better and it's been challenged a few times.

I've never cared for bull bars, and I'd love to get a brush guard, except that I don't think it would look good with the hood up. Maybe if the grill stayed attached to the bumper instead of the hood.
