brake rotors and pads, best brand?
I'm looking at Callahan rotors, calipers and ceramic brake pads on eBay. Any one using them? I need input on them or good brands to use. after almost hitting a deer tonight im done with mine being worn out.

Personally, I feel that Raybestos is the best. They last long, they are excellent quality, and they don't give you that horrible black front wheel problem like AutoZone cheapies do. For my money, I like them since they pretty much exceed OEM-quality.

How much do they run you if you dont mind me asking? I gotta replace the calipers, rotors and pads. Ive been reading and read bad things about Callahan.

After warping another set of brake rotors I decided to go all out and bought the EBC GD sport rotors and the EBC greenstuff brake pads. Everyone is going to have a brand they like the best, but you need to look at your braking habits and then decide on an avenue. I am hard on brakes so I stepped up on both pads and rotors from stock. I got an excellent deal on the EBC products so I pulled the trigger.

To be honest, I don't really recall. It seems like I did two rotors and pads all around last year, and I'm pretty sure it was only a couple hundred bucks.
I would be very careful about buying VITAL truck parts on eBay or at AutoZone. Raybestos has a lot of good reviews, and more years of experience in building these components than just about any other company. However, they do have different quality lines, so shoot for the higher ones than the lower. (Kinda like the Lariat of Brake pads vs. the XL)
This is all just my $0.02, but I haven't even heard of Callahan before haha.

Where can you buy them at? theres raybestos calipers on eBay for $61.59 each. Rotors look to be running $52.79 each for a non drilled and slotted. And brake pads are $40.

You want the "Professional Grade" if your going to buy Raybestos. They are good products and you should not be disappointed.
www.rockauto.com has a good selection of Raybestos and other brands too.

I bought them at my local Parts Plus shop, RockAuto is also a great source for them. That sounds about right price-wise, I didn't get slotted ones since I didn't think I would quite need them. Like Texasreb said, it's all about what your needs are. If you tow or haul lots of weight a lot , slotted might be the better choice.

Autozone carries many different grades of brake pads and rotors. The $20 set of pads are the lowest grade and will indeed cause dust just like the oem pads did. I would never put them on my truck. They also carry higher grade pads that are actually pretty good quality ceramics with a lifetime warranty. I've never understood why people bash so bad when they really have never had very much experience with them. They also carry raybestos rotors as well. The brands listed above all seem to be of great quality as well. Just my 2 cents.

One of my calipers is locked up. My pads don't last but a year and they are the $20 with terrible brake dust(luckily I have brake dust covers now). I tow a lot because we farm so I'd like the performance. After having sh**ty brakes for 3 years I want to have my truck stopping on a dime. Before it was mine my dad always turned rotors I've heard thats bad so I'm going to replace them.
