Brake Lights Staying On randomly
Hello, I am coming to this website because I have exhausted every solution I know to fix my problem and hoping this will lead me to some insight. I have a 2005 F-150 CrewCab. My brake lights have been coming on randomly and staying on for long periods of time. When the truck is off and the key is out of the ignition the lights will stay on and when you turn the right turn signalon will come on and stay solid, but won't flash, the left one will flash when on, but then the 4way flashers won't work. I am pretty sure its the brake lights because the third brake light is on as well. I thought it may be a bulb, but the bulbs are all good. I then checked the brake switch on the pedal, took it apart and cleaned the contacts and lubed the switch to eliminate any possible sticking. That didn't fix anything so then I changed the multifunction switch (Turn signal mechanism) which I thought eliminated the problem but I turned out to be wrong. I was standing there looking at the truck and the lights just came on and nothing had been done to the truck. The only way that the lights will go out is by disconnecting the battery. The only thing I can think of now is a short in the wiring somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am completely dumbfounded.
