That's a good idea I've never thought about doing that before! Thanks for the help.

Hi, sorry but i can see what you did wrong...you put the weather stripping all the way around...it should only be down both sides and across the bottom...and yes change that filter. I made the same mistake when i first tried it...and nothing...take the top part away and...wow it works...hope this helps

What do you look for in it working? I've never had issues with bogging down so I have nothing to compare it against. Other than a rough idle which I suppose it could potentially help...along with a new filter lol.

And what is the issue with the top part? I made sure to wrap it to where it wouldn't interfere with where the filter sat. Figured it would create a better seal.

Top part...no weatherstripping...to allow air in the top.....but not around the the sides and bottom so that air "MUST" go thru the filter.... if you read back to the beginning of this thread its mentioned a few times...but if you didnt have a bog down sound then i guess this does not matter for you.... like i said previously...i tried the first time all around...and nothing...then changed it to this ( 3 sides)...and worked wonders.... OK take it easy hope your truck runs good for you.

also be wary of the air filter you use...my truck had a "PurePro" brand air filter probably from Firestone (previous owner went there for oil changes) and it was noticeably shorter/thinner than the Fram Extra Guard air filter I replaced it with...I had all sorts of leaves and such that made it past the foam seal (mine was nearly gone) and I will be replacing that but when I put the Fram air filter in I could feel how tight it was when locking the latches down on the air box compared to the cheap air filter that was in there...

I noticed that the air box was quieter with the new filter and expect it to quiet a touch more with a new foam seal around it...thanks for this information and cheap, quick fix!

...sometimes it's the little things...from looking at it, I would have thought my foam was still okay to seal the air box but I have noticed after checking 4 times in the last 2 weeks (once to remove it) that leaves and some small debris was making it into the new filter and the air box...replacing the air filter with one that has a better seal and is a better fit to the air box (Fram Extra Guard) made some difference but this morning already changing the foam out for new "window seal foam" made a difference in sound (no air leak/sucking air noise) and throttle response seems a bit better...no, not making my F150 a Mustang in throttle response but it is more responsive than it was before removing the old, disintegrating foam and adding this new stuff...YMMV but I'm very happy with this result!

Thanks to all of you who posted...
