Blue bulb on liscense plate
SB 439 makes it illegal to add reflective material, lights, emblems or anything else that changes the color of the license plate or makes it difficult to read the letters on the license plate. The name of the state where the vehicle is registered must be visible.
I found this on a website. Does this mean that i would get pulled over for exchanging my clear liscense plate lights with some blue ones I found from advance autoparts.

theyre a bit dimmer and are definitely not DOT approved.

technically yes it will be illegal, but i think your chances of getting pulled over will depend on how "blue" the lights will be. got any pics of what it would look like?

My son recently paid a $100.00 fine in Florida for this. He bought some nice LED taillights (they were O.K. - legal), but his liciense plate lights were not; he tinted them with some of that tint paint folks use to tint their taillights with.
He ended up having to buy two new liciense plate light assemblies, as he could not remove all of the tint spray off the old ones.
So I'd stick with clear light bulbs to let the police be able to see the tag. Most states are going to the cameras at intersections now to flash the red light runners. I would assume they will get tougher on the license plate lights because of this.

Thanks for yalls replies. I put them in the other day and I could hardly see the plate so I immediately took them out and put my 194 silverstars back in. Then I tried to put them in for my sidemarkers on my headlights and deff said no to that one. Got any ides where to put these blue 194 bulbs lol? I guess I could see what it looks like for my shifter lights. As for carrying anything illegal I doubt that'll ever happen since I'm a corrections officer for my county jail. But that doesn't mean anything...my friend of six years that works with me just got a ticket for a taillight being out from an officer that he knows and sees on a daily basis.
