You could have a problem with what's called the mix door
It dictates it either hot or cold air comes out of the system
My wife's explorer needs hers worked on She only has cold air coming out of her vents
I know there's a video on YouTube on the explorer fix

I don't have a problem between hot and cold. Only the fan speed. Can't seem to figure out why it doesn't increase when I turn the switch.

Ok
Just finished. It took me a total of eight minutes to replace the resistor
That includes having to go into the house to get the right tool for the job
A 8mm ratcheting wrench
The second bolt is in a pretty tight place and that thing just does a great job in reaching it
I also did some price shopping
AutoZone 21.99 and they had in stock
VIP 21.99 also but with a three-day wait
And finally advanced auto parts 24.99 in stock

Default Wiring Pinout

Thought this may help to make sure you are changing the correct resisiter:

Don't instantly assume that the resistor pack you replaced was good. We've had a couple of members with bad packs off the shelf.

In addition, see if you can get the switch from the pick-a-part and try replacing that. Single speed sounds more like a control problem as opposed to a motor problem.

Is it normal for the resistor to get hot when it is plugged in? When I swapped mine, I plugged it in before screwing it back into the blower motor housing. I noticed the flat, card like section instantly heated up. Is this supposed to happen?

Had the same problem, changed the resistor in about 10 minutes. No change still only works on the #3 setting. Motor works fine. Now I'm not sure what next to do. Any answers out there.
Regards.
