Bilstein replacing 6 inch lift spacers?
A guy over at the "other forum" replaced the hideous 6 inch spacer on his procomp stage 1 with bilstein struts (f4-be5-b316-to) and says it rides great. I had no idea you could do this and thought you had to buy the 1000 dollar + replacement struts. Anybody else done this? How are your results? I definitely want to do this when I install my rough country this summer.

I still do not get it. There are some who say you can run the levling kit and a lift kit, others say that is a bad idea. Then they say they wheel with the level and lift kit and others say it is just for show. I can see how it would work because the lift simply moves your entire structure up and then you can level with the levling kit. I would love to go with a 6 in lift the leveling kit and put on 37's. It all sounds like it will work and I imagine is just like putting on a levling kit a going wheeling like that (except for the super meat and a definite regear in the future). If someone can get in here and discuss that or put in a new thread, that would be awesome. Good post for discussion though.

im not the most experienced but from what i heard when you stack lifts like that, it should just be for show because of the stress your joints are going to be facing. idk the science or the truth behind it, just the local talk around here.

Well he originall had the 6 inch spacer that comes with all stage 1 lifts, took that out andreplaced with a bilstein strut and had a 2 inch spacer on topof that. I would just use the strut and crank it 2 inches and not use the level...

I ran the Bilstiens in frt
they did replace the spacer
in fact I have my set sitting in the garage.
I had a wierd lift kit on my truck that didn't work Doetsch or something like that. in trying to get a better ride I went with the Bilst. frt struts and tokk out the spacer. but the ones that were on my truck seems to have limited travel.
so when I replace the lift with a procomp I went with the stage II w/ coil overs. my truck has more travel in the frt struts.
However I did think the Bilstiens were better than the spacers.
