Default Transmission Overdrive Hard Shift

Just bought a used 2007 F150 5.4L... mechanically everything is good on the truck except for the hard shift it has between 4th and overdrive... it's so hard it feels like a ran over a pot hole.. every other gear is fine shifting up and down. I read somewhere it could be the torque converter or needs a computer flash... if anyone has had or has this problem can you please help???

you could try a tuner like the edge evolution, dont know why it would be doing that tho. You check the levels?

Between 4th and OD? 4th gear is OD. Are you mistaking TC lockup as a gear change possibly? Could be TC related but it's likely a bad thrust bearing inside the transmission, fairly common on a lot of these transmissions.

Levels are good... I'm sure the OD is a 5th gear.. I've driven and counted thru the gears. On other forums I've read of this problem exactly the same thats happening to mine, just thought I'd give it a shot hear with anyone's opinion or experience

2nd 1.55:1
3rd 1.00:1
4th 0.70:1
5th -

4-Speed automatic O/D (4R75E)
1st 2.84:1

Probably TC lock up. No fifth gear in the 04-08 trucks
