If price is no problems, then I'm sure you could find some better pads and rotors.

Not sure why its considered a waste. Please elaborate...
Thought rear brakes are only used when the E brake is engaged....

No, the rear brakes are used for 30-40% of the braking.

Those percentages seem high, I say 25% at most..

Whatever percentage it is, why go cheap on something that may help save your life or someone else? Just not logical to me.
These heavy trucks don't have good stopping power so why reduce that more? I am just guessing, but don't big wheels/tires need a bit more stopping power?

I just know the front does most of the stopping, seems pointless when guys spend 300 on rear rotors/pads. If you pull trailers or heavy loads I can see it come in play however.

I replaced My front Rotors at 130K with Wearever (Advance Auto) Rotors and Wagner Pads (brake dust is minimal for non ceramic pads) just Did the Rears at 203K With Wearever rotors and Gold Wearever Pads and shoes. They perform as well or better than Factory and Were cost effective (rotors were around 50-60 each and pads were around the same per axle. It depends on how your using your truck but for the average user I cannot see investing in the High Performance stuff.

I agree with you amick...that's why i just replaced my front with EBC rotors and Hawk Ceramic...left the rear alone for now...they still looked new.

Yeah I have 106k rear pads look like I put them on a week ago. Let me know how you like that combo I might go that route.

Why work out both arms when your right hand does most of the work (unless youre southpaw)...?

The OP said that they were looking into replacing all rotors and pads, so he/she will need new rotors and pads. And they are looking for the best. Now, Napa Premium rotors may not be the best, but they are arguably better than stock and didnt cost $300 for the rear rotors (and Hawk LTS pads). SO at the very least, I would look into that setup for the rear, if you want to downplay the importance of rear brakes. But in keeping with the spirit of the OP, the best could include:
  • PowerSlot Rotors
  • EBC Rotors
  • EBC Green Stuff Pads
  • Hawk Performance Ceramic Pads
And that is just a short list based on my experience from recommendations in this forum. There are other options, like Baer, if you are willing to plus size the rotors and replace the calipers.

If your stock rear brakes are still in good shape, by all means leave them. But it isn't like the rear brakes do nothing...they are still very important even though the front does more work.
