Lightbulb Best Programmer for the Money

Just what the title says.. I'm looking at used ones since they seem to be significantly cheaper than new ones. I have my eye on an Edge Evo, Edge CS, Edge 16050, as well as a Hypertech Max Energy E-Con. All three are roughly the same in price with the Hypertech being the cheapest.

Hypertech - $129.99

Edge EvoHT 16030 - $130.00

Edge CS - $182.00 (Won't be actual purchase price - probably around $225)

Edge Evo - $200.00

What would you do?

Personally the Edge Evo looks best in our truck as it mounts up nicely.

I agree. I like the idea of having a programmer that will mount to my dash which both the Evo and CS from Edge will do. Its just not something that I just have to have lol

I would avoid hypertech. No personal experience with them but I have had a TON of customers switch to SCT as they tried hypertech and hated it.

Edge or SCT are by far the most two popular brands for the F series, either one you will be happy with.

Hi.

I answered this recently here:

Bottom line - go custom. and if you can wait, spring for an SCT X4.

good luck

completely agree. I have been running the EDGE CS for a while now and have been happy. BUT the new SCT X4 comes out soon (hopefully) and I will be going that route.

Edge seems to be the most popular of the options.

Thank you!

I really like the look of the CS in the dash pod in our trucks. I think it looks very sleek and for the potential price I could get it for, I'm really considering it. How much improvement did you see in power and fuel mileage?

Do you ever plan on modding the engine?

Most folks don't go to a dyno to gauge power increases and manufacturer's claims are a bit on the fantasy side. And the ol' butt-dyno is notorious for being innaccurate

MPG's are not guaranteed, so don't expect to see any. That way you won't be disappointed. Or pleasantly surprised, depending.
