Default A/C Problem

So I have a 2006 with the 4.2 V6 and when I was driving home yesterday I noticed there was no ac
ac clutch won’t engage and every time I turn the ac on it blows fuse 11
I checked the diode in the auxiliary box in the engine bay on a multimeter and it’s closed both ways
any ideas?

Try this, look at the front of the compressor, there is a plate attached to it held with one bolt. if the gap is more than a credit card it will not engage, easy and cheap to replace, order from ford parts only, good luck

Have you put gauges on it and checked pressures?

Clutch gap concerns will NOT cause the fuse to blow.

Have you put gauges on it and checked pressures?
If the fuse that runs the thing is blown, pressures are irrelevant.

Good find!

In that thread, the poster had a wiring circuit that was short-circuited to ground. Bypassed the entire wire and restored operation. Quick and dirty repair but effective. The OP in this thread likely has the same (or very similar) problem and may want to do this unless he wants to inspect the wiring harness and find the damaged insulation so it can be repaired more precisely.
