Best Halogen Bulbs
Getting new headlight lenses for my truck, and figured I'd get new bulbs, too. I've had good luck with my Philips Crystal Vision Ultras, but they're 3 years old, and I hear halogens degrade over time. I came across Philips Vision Plus...advertised up to 60% more vision. Kinda vague, but ok. Before I order another set of Crystal Visions, does anyone have a better halogen option?

Here is the deal with halogens, the brighter they are, the hotter they get, thus reducing life. I have a set of Osram Night Breaker healogens in the gf's Corolla. They look as good as a halogen will get. However, I know that they will be replaced much sooner than the stock lights. My recommendation is either Osram or Sylvania (made by the same company). They are not too expensive, but will be the brightest halogens on the market. Check out 'Bulb Facts" on YouTube for comparisons.

What's the difference between 9008 and H13 bulbs? My owners manual calls for 9008, but I see some bulbs marketed as 9008/H13. Does it matter if you get either?

I believe it is just the designation (name) from different companies or different countries...should be the same bulb...650NutKase, are you recommending just the standard halogen bulb from Osram/Sylvania as they also make many different choices...
thanks,

For what it’s worth, I have standard Silvanias in my truck and I’ve never wanted for more light, especially with the high beams on. Better than my old E46 with xenons, actually.

A lot of it is just marketing hype. They burn whiter but they don’t burn that much brighter. If you compare a brand new LL Sylvania bulb to the ZXE there really isn’t much more output. They rely on people comparing their new bulb to their old worn out dim bulb.
Just get a standard long life bulb in there. You’ll save a lot of money.

I recommend either the Sylvania Ultra H13 or the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited H13. I would shy away from the "xenon" look alikes. They are just a color coated bulb that has less output than a standard bulb.
**EDIT**
Just keep in mind that Osram is sold primarily in Europe. Give it some time for shipping. Mine took about 2 weeks to come in, but I am completely satisfied with the bulbs and think they are worth the wait.
