My son has a '95 Monte Carlo. 1 year and 11 months ago, we put a new Interstate Battery in it. It gave up last week. (Was told it only had a 2 year warranty on it). Was replaced with a AC Delco.
My son's '98 Ford Escort, had a 2 year old Interstate. It wouldn't hold a charge. Replaced it with a Motorcraft.
My wifes 2010 had the original Motorcraft battery. We bought the truck used, it was a year old. I decided, since I work out of town, that I would just go ahead and replace it. (It had no apparent problems). It was the OEM battery, and was a 650 CCA, I replaced it with a 750 CCA Motorcraft.
The '95 40th Anniversary Edition T-Bird that I just bought, had a Super Start battery from O'Reilly, that was in good shape, but, it's my "toy", so I put a new Motorcraft in it.
I sold the wifes battery outright, and the one out of the T-Bird outright.
THOSE NEW MOTORCRAFT BATTERIES HAD B-E-T-T-E-R BE GOOD !!!

I just put an interstate in mine. $100. If you read up on those red/yellow top batteries, everyone is saying that they don't make them like they used to. And for over $200, i wouldn't buy one just to have it fail.

"Most aftermarket car batteries sold in the United States are made by three companies that build them for retailers: Johnson Controls, which supplies more than half of the market, Exide, and East Penn. They are sold under various names and built to the specifications of retailers, so performance can vary. Most stores will test, install, and match the right battery to your car’s needs."
From CR. They recommend Diehard Gold and Kirkland (Costco only), out of the brands tested. They didn't test them all...
There are versions for north and south regions within brands, and they perform differently.

I'm shopping too, as the original in my '06 is starting display symptoms.

I used the NAPA gold when my battery went out. Mainly because NAPA was the closest place to me when the battery quit on me. That was about a year and half ago and don't have any problems.
