Began Spark Plug Job
These plugs really arnt to bad. I tryed the impact method on 1 and my snap on 3/8 snapped it right off. I've done atleast 1 a week for the last month at work and I've started to love doing them lol. I have the snap on extractor but just bought a lisle porcelin pusher since snap on doesn't make 1. Makes it a lot easier to get to drive the porcelin down on #8 and #4 since there isn't much room to get a punch and hammer back there lol.
Sorry guys, been real busy these last few days, with the rain being so sparatic work has been so crazy.
I got everything laid out nice and neat, coils came off easy as pie, all that crap jamed in the holes wouldnt blow out, ended up soaking the crud with pb blaster, blowing out the soaked gunk, and repeating until I could get to the hex heads, Went after the number 5 plug (front driver side).
Before I threw the impact wrench on there i wanted to be able to feel how the threads felt pulling out, they felt real jerky and kept hanging up every 1/8th turn or so and eventually halted to where i waas afraid to push them. I soaked it in PB blaster, backed the threads a 1/8 turn and then counterclockwise a 1/4 turn until the penetrating oil worked its way into the threads, slowly but surely pulled out. WAIT! wheres the spark plug? Oh! its still in the head, but I have the threads and hex head in my hand... I called up my friend who had the lisle tool and turns out he doesnt have a lisle tool, so i called my mechanic who had previously quoted me 800 plus 100 for each plug. He said he could start it in the morning and it could take a few hours or a few days if he has to machine the heads. Called sheehy ford just on the off chance, they quoted me at 360 because I already had the plugs, with a ceiling cost of 590 and It would be back to me same day.
I Work in lanscaping and construction so the longer i'm out of a truck the longer i'm out of a job. I rushed it over there and $570 and 5 broken plugs later, I had my truck back by 6PM same day and finished the days work.
So, in short....
