Default Attaching Thule or Yakima load bars to 04-08 cab ?

Hello,

i have a couple old sets of Thule (square) and Yakima (round) bars on hand. I have never used them on a 04-08 cab roof, but want to use one or the other now.

What is the best model of tower/product to attach bars to cab?

Hoping to Learn what others recommend?

pics and/or model numbers appreciated.

I'm not sure I've ever seen them on the 04-08 f150s. I suspect you could get some universal kit to work, but would the bars be wide enough even?

Is there a specific use case for this question? My truck there's no way I could easily get stuff off and on a roof rack.

when I haul bikes I just put them in the back with one of those tailgate pads. If the bed was full I'd just get a hitch mounted bike rack.

The problem I see is unless you're just hauling skis or something light it would be a pain to stand in the door to reach up there and try to load/ unload from the roof.

yes. Primarily for a SUP board during summer. Also occasionally for a cargo basket for light items (camping/hunting trip). I don’t have a problem accessing roof.

I have the Thule permanent mount rails installed on my crew cab roof

It was installed by RackAttack in Portland OR way back in 2013.
I've never had any water intrusion issues.

The cross rails are the 1in square tube with the locking cleats. I screw/unscrew the cross rails when I don't need to use the rack.

I think the weight limit is about 100lbs total. I only hauled a couple 10ft kayaks up there.

thank you for responding. Any chance you could post a couple close up pics of the towers and how they attach? And/or any links to, or part numbers for the towers/attachment parts? Thanks !

I'll get some pics of the racks on the roof.

This is the tracks:

The Podiums(cleats) that mount in the tracks:

The square rails:

But, I bought everything as a system from RackAttack. They did the installation.
They bundled a custom kit for me which included the tracks, the cleats, the square rails, the locks, and thule quick cinch straps.

It was so long ago I don't remember the extact cost. I think it was about $1k.
