Bed Lined the truck today.

I like it! Were your bumpers chrome before? I've always heard covering chrome is tough to do. Oh, and if it were me, I'd leave it that color. I like the contrast.

No its a 05 fx4, they are color matched bumpers. i dont think i would of even started if they were chrome. I was suprised my patience lasted long enough for me to do it with the bumpers as is.
I definatley see why is cost so much to have this kind of stuff professionally done. The prep work is very indepth and time consuming.

Yea sure,
1- i thoroughly cleaned every part of the truck that was going to be getting lined with dishsoap just to make sure i got all the grease off,
2- i used a dry scotchbrite pad to scuff up the surface of the truck to help the liner stick, i didnt have any sandpaper so i used what i could find. then i did another wipedown to get any dust off.
3- now the long part is masking off the sections, i used 1 1/2 in blue painters tape and grabbed a few thrifty nickels for the gas station. just used the tape to kind of outline the sections and then tape to paper up to give you a bit of a overspray cushion, i went with about a 1 foot all round. The back bumper was probably the most detailed to mask off.
4- Double check all your lines and make sure they are straight.
5- Now i got to the bed liner. I shook the can for about 3 minutes to make sure it was nice and mixed. Mow when you are ready to paint make sure you do nice long smooth movements back and forth. i went pretty heavy on my first coat since the liner is very thick and doesnt run very easily but i did get a couple runs but because of the texture of the liner it completley hides it on its own which is very nice especially for a very novice painter like myself.
6- after i did the first coat on the whole truck i went back for a second time and inspected the areas to make sure it was even and i didnt miss any spots, after i noted any missed spots i sprayed another lighter coat.
7- Now just let it set for a few hours. I started to unmask after about an hour and i had a few parts come up with the tape so make sure its not sticky when you unmask.
Thats pretty much how i did it. Im not master painter and this is actually the biggest thing i have ever attempted and it cam out pretty awesome IMO, like i said the texture of the liner hides pretty much any imperfection you might make which is really awesome.

Thanks for the advice haha, my only concern is that if I do mess it up, which the way you described I don't know how I could, it would be difficult to fix... but there is no reward without risk

A LITTLE UPDATE:
after a big rain storm I took ky truck on some mud covered trails , went and washed it t the firstbtime today and had some nasty chipping around acouple areas that I knew I would have problems with when I was unmasking, nothing major but I will he adding probably another can to each sIDE this weekend to fix the chips and just make it thicker.
