Bearing noise at start up?
Hey guys. So 2004 F-150 5.4L.
1) Loud bad bearing sound at start up and slowly diminishes as the truck warms up.
2) I have replaced: all pulleys, belt, belt tensioner, water pump. Only two I'm aware of left would be in the A/C and Alternator? Listened to both of those and nothing really screamed bad bearing. Hoping this video works.. Any other ideas?

Kind of sounds like a timing chain slapping. Otherwise known as the cold start rattle caused by a broken chain guide. Ever done any work to your timing components? How many miles?

Only thing I know that's been done are the cam phasers. At 125k. May be unrelated but also while climbing hills or stomping on the gas I get hesitations in my power and lunging feeling.. but it's sporadic. Have changed spark plugs and throttle position sensor, fuel filter. No check engine light.

My 06 4x4 with the 5.4 3v has been making that exact same noise for 6-8 months now and like you said it slowly goes away within about a minute or less. I can hear mine best center, front of my truck almost directly behind the radiator. I don't have any problems with my truck and sometimes it doesn't even make the noise but if you find out what it is please let us know because I've seen several ppl on here including myself wondering what it is. I have roughly 80k miles

So K&N offers a "Pro Series" oil filter that helps prevent oil from entering the crankcase at vehicle shut down.. I have an appointment Monday for oil change and fancy oil filter.. we will see if that does anything! Kind of makes sense that oil has been causing my timing chain to not have proper tension at start up.

Someone is trying to get your money with a "special" oil filter. I agree with the motorcraft already having that feature because that's what I've always used
