Thumbs up 5.4L spark plug change..no breaks!

Well, I did it. I managed to change all 8 plugs without breaking a single one. Here's what I did:

1. Sprayed PB Blaster into the spark plug tube the night before the job.
2. Took my time and used a lot of socket wrench extensions and joints.

That's it. Here are the pictures to prove it:

Here's the old vs. the new!

There they are. Aren't they beautiful?

One more time. All 8, no breaks.

Close up. They were pretty rough, also the PB Blaster probably makes it look a little worse.

Oh, also, it's a 2006 and I changed the plugs at about 105,000 miles.

You did good. I'm going to do mine in another 10000 miles. I hope it goes well. Thanks for the pics.

This kind of post makes me think I could pull this off on my own and save several hundred dollars. I don't think I've got the skill though.

What extensions and joints did you use? A pic of the necessary tools would be nice

Here's the procedures I was told to have success with the spark plugs.
#1 Let the engine cool over nite.
#2 remove coil packs and blow out any debris from around plugs.
#3 apply a carbon dissolver into plug holes about 1\3 full. (B12 or pb blaster)
#4 let sit for 2-3 hours
#5 loosen plugs 1\8 to 1\4 turn.
#6 repeat step #3 and let soak a couple more hours.
#7 carbon around tips should be dissolved enough to remove plugs. If you feel any resistance,
apply more lubricant and gently work plug back and forth until resistance is gone.
#8 after removing all the plugs, crank engine over to blow out any fluid that may have accumulated in cylinders.
#8 apply anti-sieze to the plug threads and electrob sleeve. (Not to the electrob itself. O.K. I
Probably didn't need to tell anyone that. LOL.)
#9 Install plugs. And don't overtighten.
#10 Good luck and let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

Nice job! I'm surprised they don't look that bad for 105000. I had no electrode left at 74k and would misfire like crazy over 2000 rpms. Now I think my cats are clogged. What plugs did you put in?
