Default Bad news!!!!

So I have a 2006 f150 XLT 4x4 with the 5.4L My truck has 75000 miles on it and I have noticed lately that the truck has been bucking at a speed of around 45 to 50 mph, when I slowly accelerate. So I did the following: I changed my oil and oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, removed the throttle body and cleaned it with throttle body cleaner and replaced o-ring underneath, and also cleaned my MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. The truck still continues to buck so I posted on other forum sites and everyone thinks I need to replace my spark plugs then if it still buck its probably a COP. Also Im not getting any CEL either so no codes. Well I know the whole deal about the plugs breaking off and thats why I didn't attempt to change them myself. So I took it to a friend of a friend who is a ASE certified mechanic to have them changed. This is the bad news; the first 3 plugs on the drivers side front broke off very easily, he was pretty confident that the lesile tool 65600 would remove them that why he continued on to the second and thrid. Well the lesile tool just pulls out of the stainless part that is broken inside the head. Needless to say he now has to pull the heads off in order to get the broken plugs out. Then since the heads are off then he will remove the other plugs and replace them. He was doing me a favor of only charging $150.00 to change the plugs and $20.00 per a broken plug. Again very confident that the lesile tool would work. (Dealer wanted $650.00) Now its going to cost me $600.00 for labor plus all the parts. The total cost after all said in done will be around $1100.00 for everything and thats not including the COP's if the truck still continues to buck after the plug change. However I have a question: Is there anything else internal of the engine that you would replace since the top half of the motor in broken down. All the gaskets will be replaced along with new plugs, oil chage and a coarse coolant change. What else would you consider I should do?

Wow, my lisle tool seemed to pull them out fine. If you have the heads off. And plan on keeping the truck for a long time, You might as welll do a complete overhaul of the heads...

This is not confidence inspiring since I'm doing my plugs tomorrow and have the Lisle tool.

It sounds like somebody doesn't know how to use the Lisle tool. I broke 5 out of 8 and managed to get them out with that tool. Someone is taking you for a ride.

Just because he is a ASE certified mechanic doesn't mean he is a good mechanic, sounds like he don't know how to propertly use the Lisle tool. The dealer broke 5 of mine off and the bill was $800.00 when it was all said and done but that was with an oil change too. You should of went to the dealer, your truck might never run the same again.

exactly my thoughts.
The instructions tell you to bottom out the pusher part of the tool. It broke all of my electrode straps but they all stayed connected to the shield so i was good to go.

I feel for u! Having the exact same problem. 7 of the 8 broke, have the tool from snap on. It took 6 of the 7 out! The passenger rear will not come out. It has soaked for 3 days and it pulls right out of the tip. My mechanic has a call in to ford and a ford mechanic to see if there is any other way to get it out other than pulling the head off. It's completely unbelievable that it takes this much b.s to change a stupid spark plug

I broke off 6 of 8 and the Lisle tool pulled them right out. Now if I can cure the "Bucking" problem and get rid of the ticking from the cam phazer, It might be a good truck again.
