It pops when I rev it up in neutral but under hard acceleration the backfiring is different. It's more of a lurch and loss in power.

Is your truck "bucking" when accelerating?
Does it "feel" like your driving on a washboard or rough road for a moment when this event occurs?

A backfire is a loud (sometimes random sounding) "pop" or "sputter" coming from the exhaust.. Is that what your hearing? Or does it sound more like a gurgling?

Under heavy acceleration it's bucks and it's like the truck is trying to go but can't and then when I let off the throttle it stops. And it has a weird backfiring from the exhaust whaen it does it. It's hard to explain.

If it bucks then its a misfire for sure.. It can often be confused with a transmission problem due to the bucking feeling..

The misfire is likely a bad plug or cop. This will cause raw unburnt gas to melt down the cat on the bank with misfire, which can partially block exhaust flow causing your backfire sounds.. I think its time for a full tune up (plugs, cops, MAF and throttle body cleaning). You will likely need to replace the cat on the side of the engine that you were misfiring on.. If your getting any rattling coming from one of the cats while the engine is warm, then that's prob the side you can find your misfire on.. (The rattling sounds like a loose heat shield sometimes, or a golf ball in the exhaust).

Too my truck to Midas today to have the backfiring and lurching checked out and it sounds like is worse then we thought. They think one of my rollers on the cam has gone bad and that's causing it to misfire under high Rpms. Good thing I bought an extended warranty with them truck.

A roller on the cam? Sounds like middas might be trying to bend you over. Start with some of the less expensive solutions first. Try replacing plugs first. If they are the factory plugs then they are due for a change. If no fix then go from there. Just my two cents man!

I was planning on doing a tune up first anyway but I have an extended warranty and only have to pay 100 to fix it. So not a big deal. Lol

Wait til you see what they(the dealership),are going to try and get out of.
