Default Anyone using Pioneer AVIC D3??

I know this is not a "new" head unit anymore, but I know they do everything I want (nav, DVD, iPod). I have a chance to buy a good used one and would be interested to hear how you like them. Will it seem outdated? I have audiophile w/ factory 6 cd, will there be an audio performance difference? I am not changing speakers.

I have had mine for quite a while now and compared to today units the D3 is ancient. It does a pretty good job with sound and the iPod control is fabulous. However if you are going to use a lot of navigation with the D3, I would suggest going with a newer up to date head unit. The D3's navigation is disc based so you must have the nav disc in the unit. It does have a bit of a memory so after a route is programmed you can take the disc out and it uses it's memory, but will eventually ask for the disc again. There is also no built in Bluetooth capability. In my opinion I would go with one of today's units. You will get a lot more bang for your buck, the units available today are miles ahead of the D3.

Yea, I have been wanting one for years but in that time this unit has gotten old. 2012 is the newest nav available, and I did not realize at first the Bluetooth requires an expensive add on. The main thing I liked is the built in nav, but truly I would use it like 2-3 times a year. Thank you for the reply, I will probably avoid buying this one.
