Trying to do some work in Gainesville, FL
Hey guys, I got a new set of shoes for my truck, and I am in love with them. They are 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers, and now.... there is a small bit of rubbing on my stock height 07 4x4 scab. The way I look at it, this is just an excuse to get the bilstein 5100 shocks that I've been pining after. I was wondering if any of you knew a good place in/around Gainesville, FL to get the work done (both quality and price). After getting the tires, and with the shocks, I figure I'm going to need them installed and an alignment, which I wanted to get anyway since I put new tires on.
I'm looking at you, people in FL. I'm also open to traveling a bit if need be.

not much know how needed. get a manual if your really clueless about what to do about it which you should have anyway. as far as I know, you don't need a shock compressor. how do you gain confidence if you don't try new things?

everything I can find says that a spring compressor is needed, especially when using the leveling application. also, this little gem from the installation instructions is another reason why i hesitate:
If you choose to install any BILSTEIN product without the necessary special tools, expertise or chassis hoist, you may subject yourself to the risk of serious bodily injury or death. If you elect not to use a chassis hoist, at least make sure the vehicle is on level ground, that all tires on the ground during installation are blocked to prevent movement, that at least two tires are on the ground at all times, and that adequately secured safety stands (jack stands) are used to support the chassis. NEVER get under the vehicle until you have checked to make sure all of these steps are performed.
Hahahaha, call me a wuss.

This is good info.I am going to be buying the same size terra grapplers you bought.I already have a 2 inch leveling kit so I should be all set with no rubbing. Also if you remove the shock and spring assembly, you could bring it to a trusted auto shop and have them install the new shocks with thier spring compressor. Then you just reinstall the assembly when they are done and have it lined up.We have people bring in struts to us all the time to be swapped.Saves a couple bucks for you and gain some experience too.
