Anyone ever hear of an axle flip?

i was talking to my buddy who brought up this thing called an axle flip. he said that if you get this axle flip it'll additionally lift your truck up to 3", is this true? he really wasn't sure how it was done, but only heard about from his friend who had it done to his truck. if anyone knows about this i have the following questions:

can if be performed on a truck with a leveling kit and a body lift?
would i need to change my drive shaft or suspension?
what is an axle flip?

thanks in advance for any feedback!

this won't work, axle is already on the bottom of the leaf springs. some trucks have the axle ontop of the leaf springs, f150's have them on the bottom already. bottom is how the f150 is, if you axle flipped it, you would lower it 3 inches

What your friend is referring to is more commonly called a "spring over axle conversion", which is what Atom describes. As he said, its already setup like that at the factory.
An axle flip as I know it is actually a more complex modification where an axle is flipped over and switched from one end of a vehicle to the other end, basically giving you a high pinion differential and has nothing to do with F150s or lift.

axle flip is used in lowering trucks alot, not for the lifted applications

you could do a hanger flip.

what's a hanger flip?

Well i dont know if can be done on these trucks but guys do it on the superduty's you remove the rear spring hanger and flip it over. it gives the rear on superdutys about 4" of lift but it isnt recommended for towing. theres a little more to it than that like using certian hangers from specific trucks but it is a option that could be looked into.

In a few monthes I plan on running spring under Deaver kit for my truck. For offroad its great, and eliminates most axle warp.

are you getting something custom for a rear Deaver i know they offer a replacement 7" rear spring for the f150
