Anyone considering power windows for XL/STX read this!
ok i am on a quest to get power windows in my truck. i ordered one kit from the hoffman group, the autoloc kit, but it was a piece of crap. im not the only one who has had issues with it so i advise to stay away from it. it didnt have enough power to raise and lower the window at all. so i promptly returned it and got my money back, which i spent on other things at the time. but since then i have been searching for something OEM. so with the help of GATORB8 and tasca i think i have piece together a kit that i know will work on the 05 models. you can order the OEM power regulators from tasca and ill be getting the switches from a1electric. i will provide links to parts and to a write up that is for chevy but we have the same style regulators so it would be very similar.
writeup:
http://www.a1electric.com/install/silver/s-02.htm
switches: (im going to cover up my manual crank holes with them)
http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/...&Category_Code=
and for the OEM regulators these are the part numbers Tasca sent me in a message:
4L3Z1523201CA REG ASY-FRT DR WDO-L
4L3Z1523200CA REG ASY-FRT DR WDO-R
$86.78 for RH plus a $30 core which will need to be a power one.
$64.82 for LH with no core.

I have an 05 STX. Let us know the total cost and time investment and how well it works. Plus anything you would do differently. Seems like a sizable undertaking but may be a project down the road.

i dont think it will be that bad, its really not hard. the hardest will be the wiring, but it still wont be that bad. i am waiting for a few paychecks down the road before i do this, but it should be able to be done for under $250

this is nothing compared to the stuff i had to do to my old truck. try replacing ball joints in a 95 f150 4x4, have to pull the front axles and remove the hubs, not easy took about 9 hours but i learned alot when i did it, now that was alot of work.

Have you verified the part numbers for those window regulators with Tasca? Reason I ask is because those numbers bring up nothing on their site, and a google search for those part numbers brings up the only result being this thread.
EDIT: Tasca doesn't display a part number when you manually search for the parts. But they do differintiate between regular cab, super cab, crew cab doors when pricing out regulators for front doors. I wonder why... aren't the front doors all the same?
EDIT again: It appears the crew and reg cab doors are the same. Listings for other door parts group those two together. Super cab doors seem to be different.
