There are a couple of you I disagree with, When you buy a used vehicle and it is sold-"as is" then a lot of the liability fall on the purchaser, when it is sold with a warranty then the dealership/issuer of the warranty assumes liability. The fine print in the warranty is were things get sticky, and if the dealership doesn't stand behind the vehicle they felt good enough to offer a warranty with, then it is time to seek legal advise, which in reality will probably cost more than a replacement engine.

The 3V 5.4L engine is a noisy engine, but if it didn't sound right you should've continued your search. That is a lot to go wrong in an extremely short period of time, by the sound of it the problem existed when you purchased the truck if you noticed a loud and unusual tick. There are plenty of good trucks to be had out there at reasonable prices, it just takes a little searching. I'd take the junkyard engine, it couldn't be any worse than what you had. You can't expect a brand new re-manufactured engine from a truck with 100k miles on it.

Whatever route you choose, hope things work out for you. As I mentioned these motors are a hit or a miss. They're not grenades like the 6.0 Powerjoke or anything like that.

They got a trade, don't know **** about it and took a chance when they sold it. They lost. They need to make it right. I would START with, I want to bring the truck back and you refund my $$$.
Good luck with that....did you get this statement in writing? If not, you won't win. Lenn offers the best advice; let them fix it with the warranty they gave you. It's your best bet with no/little money out of your pocket.

Hello again all,

So I just got a phone call from the dealer where I bought the truck and they told me that the warranty company probably isn't going to cover the truck since it was a "pre-existing" condition. So now im stuck with a $15000 loan and a truck that has a f'd engine.

Awesome

I have no idea, i'm going to the Ford dealer where my truck is at today and see what the deal is and what the adjuster told them. The adjuster told the dealer where I bought the truck from that it wasn't going to be covered at all now. This is really pissing me off. It starts from the top down. Ford should have done something to fix the cam phaser issue. The dealers shouldn't lie to customers. I assumed you can trust someone's word espically at a dealership that Ford sponsers. Its sad. Of course the customer always gets screwed.

Ill keep ya'll posted

*I apologize for swearing im SUPER frustrated*

You bought it, they warranted it. The only other option I'd give 'em is a refund.

The part in this whole mess that really makes me mad is the truck was a one owner bought at the same dealer who sold it to me and serviced it.

Lol. They sold u a truck with a warranty. Who cares what the previous owner did, if they knew or not, it's supposed to be covered. The words from the dealer "might not be covered" are a good start.

Don't ask em all these open ended questions. You bought the truck with a warranty. Truck broke. They fix. If they give u ***** about it, step up your concerns to the dealer owner. Ford doesn't have anything to do with it. Take all the "shoulda been done when it was under warranty" stuff out of the equation.

They sold u a truck with a warranty. Remind them. Will they try to talk you out of it? Yes. Do they lie? Yes. Do they care if u ever come back to them? No. They will absolutely walk all over u and deny any help if you let them.
