Hold one end with vise grips, or cut it off.

I got away with using my impact wrench but I thought there is a hex at the bottom of the bolt?

Homer, do you mean hold the nut and turn the hex?

I can't remember 100% what I did but I've taken it off a few times now. I remember even with my impact I've had to raise or lower the lower control arm against it to help it hold the bolt. Does this make sense? Are you using a rachet, impact...? I used an impact, I couldn't get anywhere with a rachet. There's supposed to be a hex at the bottom of the bolt on it but I'm not sure how easy it is to get at.

This is what I mean with the hex. I used the impact though and pushed the lower control arm against the nut if I remember correctly.

I've tried both impact and ratchet. If I lift that lower rubber boot I can see it turning but not going anywhere. Could it be broken or is like a balljoint

Well... I did have to tighten and loosen mine too though to get it to work off. Try tightening it back up, lubricate the threads, then try loosening.

Sorry, I didn't write that the best.

If you can't use the hex locking, try tightening it back up, lubricate the threads (they'll likely be dirty from age), then try loosening again. When loosening if it spins try holding the lower control arm against the nut, or lift it and see if it helps. At least that's what did it for me several times! I've never actually used the hex locking myself.

When you're finished, to tighten back up of course be careful not to overtighten. Once it grabs using the impact gun, I'm usually able to torque with a torque wrench at that point (as it doesn't spin).
