are they like advanced auto though? i tried this with my grand cherokee which would destroy calipers, and figured, ok, ill just get lifetime warranty ones... they replaced them the first time, but then the second time they said, nope... one replacement per warranty.

additionally, im not really looking to get stranded again... im kind of amazed that there was zero warning or idiot light that popped on. just... boom, you're screwed.
As far as I know O'Reillys replaces it unlimited times. Can't speak for the F150 but the Ford Freestyle seems to have alternators fail more frequently.

ok, so i decided to go oem.... the issue is, there are a lot of different part numbers...

all motorcraft:
GLV8781RM
GL8863RM
GL8743RM

i ended up going with the 8781 which i found on ebay "new" for $142... everything else was over $200. hopefully that wont mater? the only thing i can find is that the connector types can be D shaped or oval shaped. amazingly, there isnt squat out there on the web telling me which my truck would be. hoping if it is the opposite, i can splice in the wires somehow.

In the future, go to the merchants forum and reach out to TASCA or call them with your VIN, then they can tell you the exact one you need.

I would call and ask Rockauto the difference and which suites yours. Play dumb like you are looking, have your VIN also.

thanks, i did exactly that.

issue is, i already purchased. im hoping that if it is the wrong one, ill be able to splice wires direct to the alternator socket to get it home. ghetto, but itll be my only option once im there. i have no idea how ill tell which wire goes to which pin though.

So you called Rockauto? What did they tell you? Not sure I would try the wire splice idea unless some one here can guide you!

BE CAREFUL doing that, some places dont allow a return on electrical parts!
