Took the Old '04 Out to the Wild (Video)
My family doesn't really do much together so I scheduled a camping trip with just the men in the family to Black River in Arizona. They rarely go camping or get off the beaten path, so this was very new to them... and they loved it.
We've now made it a yearly trip... going on year 5 now.
All of this made possible with my 2004 5.4L FX4. I have since given this truck to my dad and I have bought a 2018 5.0L FX4 for myself (you can find this truck in my build thread, link in my signature).
Last year before the trip my dad and I changed all the fluids in the truck, which have never been changed (except the motor oil of course. ha.) in 180,000 miles! We changed the Front and Rear diff, transfer case, transmission, motor oil, and radiator fluids... They all looked surprisingly good for the mileage on them.
I work at a fuel shop now, so the next step is to remove the injectors and clean them with the equipment that I have access to. Slowly but surely we'll get everything tuned up on the old truck so it can go another 200,000 miles.
Cam Phasers and wheel hubs have already been replaced too.
