Hey guys I recently purchased a 2005 f150 XLT 4.6 V8. It came with a double din stereo, the Pioneer AVH-2300NEX. It seems to have already had a back up camera installed previously but the camera is no longer installed as it may have been stolen as the wires leading to where the camera would mount have been cut and there is no camera. Do I need to buy the exact backup camera that would have come with the stereo as part of the bundle package or can I buy any universal back up camera and just splice the existing wires with the new camera wires? I'm such a novice with electronics and I appreciate your help.

Any aftermarket camera should work. I have yet to see a new HU come with a camera.

I highly recommend running all new power and RCA wires. Who knows what damaged has been caused.

Thank you for your response. It's very helpful. Yes they do sometimes cone with all sorts of extras as a bundle package: cameras, air freshener etc all come with the system, but depends where you buy from. Back in the day it came with this
