Question Air intake

I have a 2008 F150 4x4 5.4 v8. I was considering getting a K&n Performance/Intake Kit. Is this worth the $300, or should I just get the k&n filter for $40. I do mostly just on road driving. On occasion I will do some mudding, but nothing extreme.

No....... it's not worth the 300, do a search on gotts mod, you will get equal or better performance without the risk of damaging your motor like the K&N intake.

Gotts mod is the only way to go on these trucks unless you have a custom tune

Rolling Thunder, what is the gotts mod? I am new to this, I just got a superchip flashpaq for really cheap, and I am wanting to put a CAI on my truck.

Thanks, I just found this before the response, what is everyone's opinion? Does the cold air really damage a truck?

You don't get any more cold air with an intake. Some intakes actually draw in warmer air than stock. The main problem with intakes is the the change in location of the MAF messing up the a/f ratio and causing lean conditions.

Hey Moose! Don't be discouraged...I love my CAI and have seen gains. Nothing huge, but I'm getting 1+ MPG and the sound is incredible. I've had no problems after a short 5,000K. I spent about $165 on a Spectre...install took 20 minutes!

When I put on 35 inch toyos w 20x10rims. My truck lost a lot of torque when I stepped on the gas, it was depressing. I installed a $150.00 spectre cold intake and I was surprised that I got my torque back. I don't believe it improved mpg and I'm not to crazy with the aggressive engine sound but that's just me. Eventually I'll upgrade my gears and take out the cold intake but that's only cause I like to listen to Howard Stern instead of my engine. BABABOEEE
