I have a K&N intake right now. I have had it for about two years now. I have cleaned it 6 times, but I have herd alot of bad things about the K&N filter. What is a good filter to get that wont cause long term damage to my moter.

really? what have you heard about a k&n damaging a motor or bad things about them? those are probably the best filter you can get, with regular maintanance they will outlast your truck.

if you have the k&n intake system, as with any brand aftermarket cai, they can make your truck run lean and not act right. if you have a tuner, you can fix this issue.

Do a search on K&N its all over this forum. They say the oil in the filter can cause long term damage on the motor. I love my intake. I was just wondering what would be a better filter.

I have K&N on 5 vehicles. They're great. Just don't oversaturate the filter with oil and make sure you let it dry before installing.

I run a K&N 57-2566 and never had a problem. It's a good intake. I would put your money towards a programmer with custom tunes to fix any lean issues you may or may not be having. You could always pull a spark plug and see what one looks like. That filter should last you 100K miles. You could also just replace the filter, if you feel it's wooped, for like 50 bucks.

If you feel the need to replace the whole kit I would go with one of these:

I only found that stuff, because I was looking to see if anyone had a different box or heat shield with a K&N intake that didn't come with the kit. The heat shield that came with it doesn't seem like it does much to keep the heat out or anything else. I had dry mud under the filter. I don't go mining or anything, but it was there.

Well you have been running one for two years. Any problems? Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

If you are worried about the oil check out your MAF sensor and throttle body. Might as well clean them while you have them out.

I don't know anything about the Diablo Sport Predator tuner. It sounds wicked though.

I like it. It was a pain in the ***** to get custom tunes on it, and the Diablo Sport guys weren't much help. But I love it. My truck eats Chevys for a midnight snack.
