My guess is that it is since your HU will not get out of reverse view. You HU reverse trigger wire needs to go to a reverse trigger=black and pink. If you want to use your HU(if you have that option) to check your trailer/load while driving forward your camera needs a constant 12v(orange on the 7 pin if you have the towing relay in).
okay so change the red wire closest to HU to the black/pink at kick pannel area, and the red wire nearest to camera to the orange constant, then should i change my video connection at HU to the "AV in" instead of the "reverse cam" in

Don't mess witht the red wire on the coax. Hook your HU reverse trigger wire to the Black/pink. Leave you video connection as is for now. Is the relay and fuse in to use the 7 pin for towing?

Well, I finally installed my camera!!! It works great!!!
I did just as I thought I would and took all 3 connections from the 7 pin trailer harness and ran the video wire and remote wire all the way back to the head-unit. I soldered, liquid taped, and electrical taped everything, then zip tied the wires all the way to the front.. I used the 2 rear brake line clips by the frame to clip the wires up and zip tied the rest of the way...
I drilled a 1/2" hole next to the drivers side door sill plate grommet hole and electrical taped and liquid taped the hole. Both wires were run through the door sill, under the carpet and to behind the dash... I ended up wire nutting the reverse trigger from the deck and the trailer harness together. Then plugged the video wire into the back of the deck. Job complete...
Note: I did not have to take the handle off of the tailgate to drill the hole. I drilled it in place.

The camera kicks on in reverse, or I can select it from my deck and watch it while I'm driving forward.

The camera is wired like this:
Red to orange (ignition hot)
Black to white (ground)
Black wire to black pink wire (reverse trigger wire)

Where did you connect the reverse trigger wire under the dash?

The red cables coming off the RCA cable is confusing me.

Right now I have
Red - to orange
Black - to white

Now Im not sure on where to go

I connected my reverse trigger wire to the black\pink wire at my trailer harness. Then I connected the reverse trigger that i ran from the trailer harness, to the back of my deck to an orange\white wire labeled "reverse" (this is the wire the tells the deck to switch the camera display on when reverse is selected... (The black\pink wire is your reverse light wire).

Check your head units owners manual to see which wire they labeled "reverse". The video input wire "yellow RCA" will connect to the "video in" port on your head unit...

Hope this helps..

Maybe im not understand the definition of " trigger wire"

I've found the reverse trigger on my HU - labelled reverse trigger so that part is easy.. Now should I run a separate wire from the black/pink at the trailer harness direct to the "reverse trigger" on the HU?

You can also find this wire in the driver side door sill harness.
