Yes I had to pull the tailgate cover off.
I pulled the cover off the tailgate.
Drilled the hole from the outside.
Pushed camera in hole.
Loomed wires down through the tailgate.
Then sealed it back up.
Prob took 1 min to actually install camera..
this is the easiest part.

I used Klein katapult strippers to strip back the 7 pin harness wires for power, constant hot, and reverse trigger. Then soldered all connections.
