Default Adding DRL

I have a 2005 4x4 with the auto headlamp feature and want to add DRLs to it. Is this something as simple as plug and play or a real pain?

I have a 2005 Lariat and added DRL from ford accessories in 2006, ford dealer installed and it has yet to work right I fixit and something else fails maybe newer systems are better or the installer was not experienced I don't really know haven't spent to much time on it. Also I have wig wags with fog light jumper that may effect it.

You should just have to install a relay in the appropriate spot in fuse panel under the hood. Your truck should be prewired for drls as some areas require vehicles to have this feature.

Quick update on this. stopped by the dealership yesterday and the service adviser did not know if it could be done. She asked one of the techs standing there and he said not with out a new wiring harness and computer. Going to check with another dealer soon.

Day time running lights, I think. They are talking about light switches

I added my own and wired them in to a switched fuse so they turn off and on with the ignition.

Resurrecting a very old thread here. There is another way to get DRLs, and that is to replace the lights and their housing completely. I found
these these
on Amazon. The halo, brow, and triple-dot LEDs are all wired separately. I added a relay, an inline fuse, and tapped the existing fuse-box ensure that these only light up when the key is on, but otherwise draw directly from the battery (because of the relay). The extra parts (relay, pigtail for the relay, and an inline fuse) came to around $30 USD. Installing the lights was less than 10 minutes each side. The work to pull the wiring, add ground wires local to the headlights, install the relay, solder, etc. etc. etc. took a few hours, but these are the results. The regular headlights (not high-beam) are on in the second photo.

I'll be blacking out the tan/beige part of my grille next so as to accentuate the black & white appearance.
