oooooo that gryphon must be beast lol I am determined to put them on though. There has to be a way without cutting them lol. Its going to be a huge pain in the *** but it will be worth it. I dont really want to throw a bigger block in the back because I feel like my leaf pack is sagging a bit and can use some help.

you might be able to heat it with a blow torch and pry it open/shut. the only problem though, there's not enough room to close the spring clamp when you get the new leaf into the pack. i dont know how that's supposed to work.

my vote is to sell the long leaf AAL and buy the small kit that goes under the leaf pack (not inside).

a new set of spring clamps shouldn't be too hard to make. its dark and cold outside, so i'm not sure what the f150 spring clamps look like, but the ones on my bronco II look like this

hope this helps

Yea they are somewhat similar, thanks for the pic. The main problem is that I cant get mine open, ill take some pictures tomorrow to show everyone what im talking about. Also do you think there would be a problem if I got them off and kept them off? or would my springs spread all over the place?

the leafs will fan out if you don't have something holding them in line. you need at least one clamp. it doesn't have to be tight top-to-bottom, just the sides.

without clamps, the leafs will also be able to spread away from each other more (up and down). while this can give you more flex, it also allows more dirt in.

clamping leafs also helps to prevent axle-hop/spring wrap. i'm sure there are some old-school drag racers on this site that have (or have seen) leafs clamped very tightly to help keep traction in the 1/4 mile.

for my bronco II rebuild, i will have one spring clamp at the front of each leaf. it will be keep the leafs in line, but allow them to fan away from each other slightly up and down. i'll leave the back open. i feel this is a good balance for a trail rig, you may want both ends clamped for mostly street use
