Default Nitto Trails vs. Toyo Open Country MT

I thought I read somewhere that these are pretty much the same tire, made by the same manufacturer. So which one do you guys prefer? I read nothing but good things about the Nitto's and was set on them, but can get the Toyo's a bit cheaper. Should I stick with the Nitto's or are the Toyo's pretty much the same thing, and do they have the same reputation as the Nitto's? Do they both perform the same in the rain/snow and offer the same road noise?

I'm on my 3rd set of Toyo's and have no complaints. Got 55K out of the first 2 sets of M/T's. Running the A/T II's now.

Pretty sure they are indeed the same manufacturer. That being said I love my nittos. Never left me stuck anywhere yet.

I've had both. Right now I have the Nitto MT's in a 10 ply. IMO the Nitto's ride better and last much longer than the Toyo MT and they aren't as loud on the freeway imo. But I do think the Toyo MT looks a little meaner than the Nitto. Both are great tires, it just comes down to what use you want out of them. If you're going to be doing a lot of hwy/freeway driving or towing I think the Nitto would be better. If you're going to be off road and mudding more, I think the Toyo would be best but that's just me.

Have trail grapplers now, will have them when my wheels and tires arrive. They are surprisingly quiet on the highway, great on trails and in the mud.

the Nittos are a slightly harder compound so they will last a little longer than the Toyos. You can't really go wrong with either of them, they both have a reputation as great on road and off road tires. Really just up to which one you prefer and how much you want to spend

Nittos grate quicker than cheese. I'd never dip into them at the price they are myself.

Co-worker has Toyo M/T's and he loves em. Nice tires too.

I've got the Toyo MT's with 37k miles on them now and still have plenty of tread left. Expecting to get at least 15k+ out of them. Like everyone else said, it's basically a matter of preference and what you're looking for.
