Hello, I have. 2006 F-150. The door lock actuator was making sounds like it was faulty. It also would not lock or unlock the drivers door. We replaced the part. It now makes the sound like it is locking or unlocking the door. Though, it in fact does not do either. I tested the actuator before installing to ensure it worked properly. Could it be something else in the lock assembly or a fuse?

Considering that you can hear the actuator using the remote, the next thing I would do would be to remove the door panel and watch what happens when operating the remote (removing the door switch panel then reconnecting its wire connectors). The metal rods may not be moving like they should.

Yeah if you hear it moving then it's not a fuse it's a problem with the linkages or latch mechanism.
