ABS light after driving a few miles on the highway

Default ABS light after driving a few miles on the highway

hey guys, when driving my truck on the interstate at hwy speeds my ABS light comes on after I drive for a few miles. now around town I can drive all day and it'll never come on but everytime on the highway it comes on. what could be the cause? my brakes seem to work fine and when I cut the truck off the light doesn't come back on until I hit the interstate again and it's driving me nutts!! can anyone tell me whats going on?? thanks

Take it to an auto zone or auto parts store and get them to read the code. A lot of them claim they can't ready the brake system codes but they can and it will pin point what sensor it is if it's faulty

You might have an issue with one of the abs sensors down at the hubs (IWE if its 4wd)

would a speed sensor cause the ABS light to come on??

i noticed yesterday that it came on while driving in town. i'm gonna look further into it and see if I can see any damaged ABS lines around

I actually had this problem with my truck. You have a speed sensors on the front passenger wheel and one on the driver side as well. It could be several problems: bad sensor, brake dust covering sensor, loose plug (my issue). Parts store can't read the code bc abs use a special code. Most shade tree mechanics can read them and the dealership obviously, but the dealer might charge you a fee. There are several more things that can cause it but those are the basic one and I would recommend checking those first
