you could of just drove by an Autozone or Advanced Auto and had it pulled for free, but having a new DTC scanner is nice too.

Tried that. Autozone's reader only gives Check Engine light codes. Won't read ABS or other stuff.

cheap Auto Zone. They will normally read the ABS codes for you but will not reset them.

No. For some reason, my truck won't talk to scanners. I can read codes on my other cars, and daughter's car, but not the truck. Someone suggested that the original owner might have done one of those programming changes, and he said once you do that, the computer won't talk to other machines after that.

Try fuse 110.

If it's good, check for 12 volts at pin 16 of OBD connector. If not there's a blown fuse or wiring problem.
