Default ABS issue

have a 2007 ford f 150, changed brakes and front rotors and everything was good for a couple of weeks, then got an ABS light and changed the front sensors.. this did not fix the problem. Now I have the light and the brakes are constantly braking in ABS which freaks my wife out and this is her truck. My scanner wont pick up anything. I dont want to just start throwing parts at this. Anyone have any ideas?

Check for play in your front bearings.

do you have an ABS and Brake light ? you will need a DTC reader that is capable of scanning the ABS system. most common readers don't do this.

dont have an ABS scanner. Thought I would check the bearings like suggested and got to Oreileys to see if they have one I can rent or borrow.

checked the fuses and bearings. I was pretty sure the bearings were good because I replaced both front rotors. I am going to see if I can find someone that has an ABS scanner. I dont have an extra 150$ unfortunately .all in all I have replaced the front bakes, rotors, and both front sensors. Any other ideas?

You need to see what data the ABS computer is seeing. Otherwise you're going to be shooting the parts cannon at it. Also, when you replaced the sensors, were there shims on them? Sometimes you need to tune the gap on the sensors, and if they're too bar away from the reluctor wheel, you'll get ABS triggering whenever you are braking.

You need to get the wheel off the ground and see if there's play in the bearing. Doing it with the wheel off, you don't have the leverage to see if there's play unless the bearing is really ready to fall apart.

Ideas:
  • Check out OBD Fusion.
  • Check out Autozone Free Fix Finder Service

Get yourself a bluetooth OBD2 reader and Torque app. That’s super cheap.
