Default 97 F250 Accelerates to fast in reverse

I have a 97 F-250. We have a problem with it accelerating to quickly in reverse. Or it doesn't respond with slight pressure then shoot out suddenly. Problem is that when we try to back in to hook up our trailer we go through hell just trying not to hit the trailer with the sudden back-up of the truck (extremely frustrating). Any suggestions?

Default you do realize you are in the 04 to 08 forum

we have fly by wire throttle . the gas pedal signal goes to the computer then the computer sends a coded signal to the circuit board on the throttle body to drive motor on throttle plate . Yours ??? Don't know .

Default Whoops....thank you.

Wasn't sure how I got into that thread. Thank you for the heads up. I will try and find another thread. Also just realized that this is a F150 forum. Don't know if it matters that we have a F250

I'd think it would back up idling.

Good point. Nope doesn’t do that either.
