Default 5.4L Ignition coils-JEGS-40134?

Has anyone used these or known anyone that has? They are very inexpensive @$23 a coil. I know what most prefer-just wanted to know if anyone has tried these.

Contacted JEGS, these have a 1 yr. warranty. I've seen others with lifetime warranty, so I probably go with one of those when the time for replacement comes.

Stick with what is know to work. You need an all copper coil, most cheap ones are aluminum or steel with some copper and will fail.
Motorcraft are known to be good, as are Veston (sp).
I have also had good luck with ARAParts COP (they are all copper construction). I have used them on both 3v and 2v motors with no failures (so far, ~50,000 miles combined). They are around $80 on Amazon and E-bay for all 8.

I'm not ready to replace yet, looking for the future. Standard Ignition ones look promising, Their private brand, BWD-sold by O'Reilly looks good also.

I agree that there is a lot of junk out there. Where did you get the ARA coils?

I have never had a COP go bad, I have ran a set of 8 for 200k, a set of 10 for 165k, a set of 8 for 158k and another set of 8 for 152k and never a failure. I have always replaced boots and springs with spark plugs though. I always file the copper contact in the COP nipple with paper type fingernail files cut in half length wise. Curious as to why you think yours will go bad?

That's great, did my first plug change (50K) early last summer, but still have original boots/springs. I'll probably replace those on my 2nd plug change. I just know they will wear out sometime.

O'Reiilys carries the BWD brand-which is the house brand for Standard Products-which are made in the USA. MasterPro is O'Reillys cheaper brand-but majority is made in China and has usually lesser warranty. The BWD brand is the one most shops use.

Curious to know where you're getting your info on the composition of the coils, as aluminum or steel wire construction of the coil would induce hellish resistance comparatively, which would induce heat, which raises resistance.....You'd have poor spark and a short life.
