I believe it was... "thicker than a snicker"... straight from the book of SCORGE

I bet if you published a collection of your posts someone would buy it. Hell I'd listen to the audio book

Back on topic with another (possibly stupid) question. Anyone see a problem with buying 2 five qt jugs and saving the leftover for the next oil change? What's the shelf life after it's opened?

As long as it's a clean, dry environment, it should last a LONG time, even if the seal is broken, with the cap on of course.

No problem at all unless contaminated. Oil diluted with gas and combustion byproducts in an oil pan is different than unused oil in a bottle. I've got tons on the shelf in my shop that I don't worry about.

Just remember that the Motorcraft 820s & their RACE equivalent version are the only filters that Ive seen that has the bypass valve at the base end (threaded end).

(This isnt a question (note the period) but a FYI for those deciding on your filter design to use).

That's so if the filter goes into bypass, it's not getting oil from the end of the filter where all the sludge and garbage has settled.
