5.4L Engine Oil - "What Should I Use?"
An interesting idea came up - after several "What oil should I use?" questions, mostly because of the 5.4L's tendency to tick, why not make it a sticky? You decide!
Poll is now open. Vote away, folks.
And keep the conversation civil my main personal rule is if you're going to post "facts," be ready to back them up with references. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence.

Thanks Lamartian, hopefully this will become a sticky so that new users can find their answer rather quickly.

Done. I put in an "other" one for any obscure ones that might pop up.

Manual says to use 5W20, so that's what I use. I'm no oil guru though. Is there a reason to use something else?

Depends on who you ask. Personally I'm a 5W-30 guy. The same engine in Australia calls for 10W-30. I think Ford only spec'd 5W-20 because of U.S. CAFE requirements and a measly increase in MPG, but I can't back that last part up.

I wonder if it has more to do with the temperature differences between the 2 countries? I live in FL, It doesn't get below freezing were I live. Normal temps in our "winter" are mid 40's to 50's. And that only lasts a few weeks.
