I would absolutely use a Thin film of anti sieze on the threads. Emphasis on Thin. Been changing spark plugs on aircraft, boats and cars and ignitors on jet engines for over 30 years and we always apply a light film of antisieze on the threads. Sounds like under torqued plugs or massive amounts of antisieze because threads are threads.
its not as common as it is with the earlier build plugs but does happen. i have also had plugs that were locked so tigfh in the head i cracked snapon sockets removing them, i have had ones my 3/8 nor my 1/2 impact could remove. i had to end up using a 3 foot breaker bar which ended up snapping the plug completely in half and we had to drill the plug out, use an easy out for the rest then re tap the head... see that a few times with other techs as well as my self.. as the antiseize they were not putting them on the threads but on the part of the plug that gets carbon build up on it.. making it easy for the antiseize to get very hot and run down... im not against adding some to the trhreads, but very very little..

Motorcraft must of redesigned them after I changed mine. It was about this time last year I went through that hell. I got the one piece Champions because I didn't want to have the deal with the fear of breakage next time around. Maybe by the time I need them changed again (another 64k or so) stealerships will not be charging so much anymore!

Just had mine changed at 115k miles and replaced them with champions. My truck runs great. Surprisingly, not a single one broke during the removal. I've run synthetic oil since 10k and regularly run redline injector cleaner.

Ok guys I just found this forum after some searching. I am thinking of buying an 06 Super Crew from the company I work for. My problem is that the truck has 205k. The guy that was driving it said he thought it was a slipping trans. I drove it today and for the first 10 minutes it ran great with a slight miss at idle. After it warmed up it had a bad miss and stumbled badly when I tried to give it any gas. I did some tests and I don't think it is the fuel pump or cats. It also does not seem like the trans is slipping to me. I took it to the dealership and they said it has the original plugs in it. Now I am thinking that could be causing the problems instead of something major. The dealership quoted me a price of $788 to change the plugs before they could investigate farther. I will not pay that price and will attempt to change them myself. I will probably bite the bullet and order the Lilse tool because with 205k I doubt I will get even one out intact.

Did your check engine light come on when you accelerated and the truck started stumbling? I keep a test tool in my console so I can get the codes and/or bad coil indications right away. If you are sure the plugs have never been changed, by all means replace them. I don't know if you've read back through this thread but there are many excellent ideas and methods describing how to use the Lisle tool, solvents, warm-up’s, impacts, etc. to help you. When I did mine, I was only able to get two plugs out in one piece. The most difficult was on the passenger side rear; scuffed knuckles and computer removal finally allowed almost straight access. Good Luck!!!

Yes the check engine light came on while it was doing it. I took it to Oreilly's in town and the guy there could not pull the codes. He said that his scanner would not connect for some reason.
