I'd be cautious of the price increasing if a plug breaks... Might be a way to get your truck in their hands by low balling you then "oops!..... yea.... That number went up a lil"

I got a low ball quote too, then I noticed they only charged one plug.. I told them about their "mistake".... after that the price went up considerably... my quote at first was around 250..

Dealerships all showed a 2.5 hr labor rate... its in ALL there systems..

Just got done with changing the plugs on my 2006. 4 plugs broke but thanks to the Lisle tool I was able to remove them fairly easily if it was not for the tight spaces in the engine compartment.

With that being said I am offering my Lisle extractor tool set for $30 plus postage. I paid $60 at Amazon. Used one time (for those 4 plugs). Anyone interested send me a pm or email me at same address at h0tmail.com.

My lisle tool finally came in today.

I found my issue with a misfire/hesitation when accelerating from low rpms uphill.

Half of the loop at the end of the spark plug was gone. Just enough to catch the ceramic.

Truck runs soooo much better than before the change and I think I recovered some power. Its great now.

This is my first post but I did want to thanks everyone for all the great info in this thread. I just replaced the plugs on my 2006 F150 5.4. My truck has 115,000 miles and I had no service history. I don't know if the plugs were done in the past but they looked pretty waisted when I removed them. Let me add that I have never replaced spark plugs before on any car/truck so I figured why not give it a try. After much reading I went at it. Call it luck or divine intervention but not 1 single plug broke. I ran sea foam through the gas tank and through the break line several weeks ago, but I have no way of knowing how much that helped or didn't help. I then loosened the plug just a fraction and sprayed in some PB or whatever it is called and let it soak in for a few. I then slowly removed each plug and they all came out in one piece! The rear plug on the passenger side was a nightmare but I eventually got it. Thanks again for all the great advice! Thanks from Utah!!

Update. I finally took pics of the broken plug. I found out why I had a bad miss. Part of the loop at the end of the plug was just gone when I pulled it out. Truck runs fine.

The scratches on the side of the plug sleeve are from me trying to get it off of my lisle tool. LOL it's really on there. I got it sitting in some pb blast right now. I didn't bother taking it off the tool the other day when I pulled it out. I was ready to drive my truck!
