Default whoho!!

Can't say this will work for you but it did for me.

First: I've ran non-ethonal gas for the last couple months ( better gas milage).

Second: I let the gas level get down to 1/4 tank and added two bottles of Lucas inj. cleaner.

Third: removed plugs with the eng. warm (not hot) just warm enough to touch without getting burned

Fourth: done the happy dance when all eight plugs came out without breaking

Default Plugs replaced...

After much review and though (and being very mechanically inclined, I'll be damned to spend that kind of cash for a plug job) I finally made the decision to pay to have a friend who owns a auto repair shop do the plug change. My 06 XLT 4X4 5.4 3V 114.000ml developed a misfire at 40/45 mph. $500.00 later with fresh plugs and boots, the truck runs like brand new! In the end, it would have cost me much more if I would have done the job myself. Its just the price you have to pay to drive a 04/06 Triton 3v...

I just changed the plugs on 04 5.4 and now it runs like crap.I have checked everything I moved to remove them and shot air into the holes after I got them out. still if I don't hold the pedal down to idle at 1000 rpms it just stalls out. Any help? I am at a loss.

To me it sounds like you have a vacume leak. Make sure all vacume lines installed and secure and no cracks at various plastic fittings where vacume lines attach. With all the crawling around that i did, Its possible to pull a line loose and not even know it.

Default Spark Plug Replacement Tightening Torque?

I read most of the info on spark plugs.

I did not see the install torque value of the new plugs, even in the TSB.

I don't have a manual, does anyone know what they say is the install torque?

Thanks
Mike

Well got the truck back today from repair shop. turns out the dialetic grease I used from Autozone was causing the plugs to arc. All plugs were replaced and changed the boots and general cleaning and on the way home it ran good. Just hope it keeps running good. Now it is off to autozone to get some money back. Doubt I will get the repair shop fee but the plugs were now toasted from all the misfiring and arcing. the vacuum leave sure sounded like a reasonable problem but......

i made a appointment to have my plugs changed at my local dealer last week wednesday at 8am, dropped truck off tuesday night. they called at 3:30 and said sorry we were unable to do your truck today we need to keep it overnight and try tomorrow and we will give you a 15% discount.. i said no ill come get it. now bare in mind this same dealer has taken 4 hours to change my oil multiple times.. now im not sure if i want to try again or attempt it myself.. they quoted me $350-$1000 to do the job. its a 05 with 120,000 on it. i have been reading almost every post here about the job and im 50/50 on doing it myself.
