3v Heads on 2 valve short block?
Hey guys I've been trying to search for a straight answer on here and the mustang forms, but haven't had any luck. I'm looking at picking up an 05 f150 with a 5.4 that has a rod knock. I thought no big deal those motors are a dime a dozen ahould be able to pick one up for 500 bucks. Well I'm wrong its more like 1800 in Michigan. So the 2 valave motors can be picked up pretty cheap. I know they bolt up but is there any clearance issues with running a 3 valve head on a 2 valve shortblock. I've also read that there was a change over in the 5.4 blocks in 01 if I remeber correctly. I know I would have to swap the timing cover and valve covers over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should be fine, I don't think they changed the blocks any between any of the motors, but you'll have to treat it like a short-block swap and change front and valve covers, and probably oil pans. probably also oil pump.
