Ive heard people talk about ditching the balance shaft and having the engine internals balanced to run without it but that's a pretty serious deal and dunno if id do that without going thru the trouble of forged pistons/rods while i'm at it. I seen one company that does sheetmetal intakes for the 6.8 but at 2500 bucks, i dont see that **** happening either. I'll buy a tig, and learn aluminum fab and build the damn thing myself before i'll pay for that crap(dont get me wrong, the thing was effin GORGEOUS and i would put it on my kitchen table for decor).
I would look at the year and if it has the sparkplug issues first. The first couple years had an issue of shooting sparkplugs out because the factory threads weren't deep enough. Fix that and upgrade the plugs to some E3 or something fancy.

Then headers definitely, Get a hold of Banks, they make a complete powerpack for the V10 motorhome, so I know that hey have hi-flo headers.

I'd look at getting the heads port and polished and the engine blueprinted.

And then, if you still have time/money. Take it to a shop and have it dynotuned.

All that should give you a strong motor, and most other things aren't too bad to do in the engine bay, unless you want to turbo it

He said it has a Torqueshift transmission, which means it would be a 3 valve engine. Which means it has the "two piece" spark plugs that break.

Is it a 3 valve V10?

Either way, sounds like a nice project you've got lined up. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the build thread!
I've taken out a couple of Srt 10's (on the drag strip) with my boosted 5.4. I don't see any reason why he couldn't kill'em with a 6.8 with some performance mods.

Yeah anything after 05 is gonna be the 3 valve heads so i'm gonna go ahead and yank the two piece plugs and install the new single piece champion double platinums prior to installing it in the truck. Future plug maintenance shouldn't be a problem for the simple fact that nothing is gonna be further to the rear. the extra length of the v10 is all toward the front.

yeah this is the 3valve motor so i'm gonna upgrade the plugs to the champion platinums. As for the banks stuff, i saw the power package, but the only thing i think i would be interested in is the long tube headers, if i could fit them in the truck. What do you think?

I'm not sure what would be in the way of fitting them... Maybe the front crossmember? I'm also assuming that you're going to put this in a 2wd, right?

Yeah it would, there's another guy on here that's thinking of doing that swap.

You'd have to really beef the suspension up to handle that weight though and I'm not sure how all the electronics would swap over.
